OCEAN ACIDIFICATION

What is it and what does it mean for marine life

Presented by: Oregon Institute of Marine Biology

Dr. Julie Schram, Post-Doctoral Researcher

and Reyn Yoshioka, PhD Student

Dr. Schram and Reyn Yoshioka will discuss what ocean acidification is and how it influences and affects marine organisms. They will focus primarily on responses of organisms from our area and along the U.S. West coast, including seagrasses, shellfish, plankton and fish. They will discuss how ocean acidification affects organisms differently, and how changing oceans will have both winners and losers.

This seminar is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Oregon’s marine wildlife, their environment, and the impact of climate change. You will also have an opportunity to view the museum exhibits and learn more about the interesting animals that thrive in our ocean
