The southern Oregon Coast is a happening place

Whimbrels have joined us near Face Rock. We’ve been seeing these whimbrels for about 2 weeks now. They seem to enjoy showing off for beach walkers. Right now there is a lot going on at the seashore. Common murres, cormorants, gulls, puffins, oyster catchers, pigeon guillemots, and even a peregrine falcon have been settling into nests. Harbor seals are proudly resting with seal pups on the rocks at Elephant Rock. It’s a spectacular array of marine life to watch. Come down at low tides, but please stay back from birds and seals. They are easily frightened.
