PROGRAMS & EVENTS SEA Seminars SEA presents a series of seminars taught by professionals from federal and state agencies each winter to prepare volunteers for service as docents (wildlife interpreters). The seminars are open to the public on a space available basis. The seminars will generally be held at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Boathouse auditorium in Charleston on second Saturdays of January through May. Topics typically include aspects of local geology, oceanography, intertidal life, marine mammals, birds, fisheries and Native American history and culture. See the seminar details in the current schedule. Coastal Wildlife Interpretive Programs SEA docents (wildlife interpreters) are well informed about the natural history and a wide range of interesting places along the southern Oregon coast. During SEA’s summer season, docents provide on-site education at Simpson Reef and Coquille Point on weekends. See our Visitor Information page or our SEA Calendar for specific dates and times. Intertidal walks and presentations to school and civic groups are also offered with advance notice and by request. Over 10,000 visitor contacts each year keep our Interpreters busy. Please contact our Docent Coordinator or our office for additional information to help you make your visit to the Southern Oregon Coast a truly unique experience.
